Exhibition Installation - Celebrating 50 Years of the University of the Azores

Santo André Center

July 25 - January 9

The Carlos Machado Museum is proud to join the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the University of the Azores — a center of knowledge and a cornerstone of Azorean autonomy — with a special exhibition installation commemorating this milestone. Featuring a thoughtful selection of objects and images chosen with care and affection, the exhibition pays tribute to the University and its profound impact.

Through this initiative, the Carlos Machado Museum honors all those who, over the past five decades, have played a part in building and strengthening the University of the Azores. This institution has become a vital engine of knowledge, progress, and social cohesion in the archipelago, and its scientific, social, and economic contributions are widely recognized.

Symbolic and evocative in nature, the installation invites visitors to reflect on the University’s transformative role in Azorean society and to celebrate the legacy of an institution that continues to shape the Region’s future. The opening will take place at the Santo André Center on July 25 at 6:00 PM.
