The Santa Bárbara Center of the Carlos Machado Museum will host, on October 24th at 6:00 PM, a screening of the 5th Festival Internacional de Cinema Ambiental da Serra Catarinense (FICASC) Açores.
The documentary "Sukande Kasáká - Terra Doente" will be shown, directed by Kamikia Kisedje and Fred Rahal.
FICASC presents a selection of exclusively Brazilian productions that address themes such as agroecology, indigenous peoples, the Amazon, and popular art. Following the screening, as is the festival's tradition, there will be a debate.
This edition of the festival, taking place between October 20th and 24th, 2025, strengthens the cultural ties between Brazil and the Azores. According to Doty Luz, director of FICASC: "One of our goals in bringing the festival to the Azores is to recognize and strengthen the cultural relationship without forgetting our origins. Just as Azorean culture arrived in Brazil, we come to Portugal bringing a bit of Brazilian culture."
The event is produced by Fósforo Produções Culturais and is supported by the Governo dos Açores, Museu Carlos Machado, A.L.A (Associação Largo dos Artistas), Escola Secundária Antero de Quental, ExpoLab - Centro Ciência Viva, and the Biblioteca Pública e Arquivo Regional de Ponta Delgada.
