25 November
3:00 PM
Azores Autonomy Center
In the context of 25 November, the Carlos Machado Museum marks the date with a MUSEUTALKS session, centered on the film Novembro Escaldante and on a reflection about the events of 1975 that shaped Portuguese political history. The session will take place on 25 November at 3:00 PM, at the Azores Autonomy Center.
The initiative includes the screening of the documentary Novembro Escaldante (approx. 35 min), produced as part of the commemorative programme marking the 25th anniversary of 25 November. The film presents a detailed historical retrospective of the events, combining testimonies from military figures involved in the attempted coup with chronological archival footage preserved by the RTP Archive.
The reportage is by journalists Márcia Rodrigues and Alberto Serra.
Following the screening, a debate with Conceição Tavares and João Paulo Constância will take place. The session reinforces the Carlos Machado Museum’s commitment to valuing historical memory, autonomy, and civic participation, encouraging critical reflection on the events that shaped Portuguese democracy.
Novembro Escaldante, originally broadcast on RTP1 as part of the Grande Repórter series, brings together testimonies from key figures in Portuguese military and political history, including Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho, José Inácio da Costa Martins, Vasco Lourenço, António Ramalho Eanes, Morais e Silva, António Rosa Coutinho, Álvaro Fernandes, José Loureiro dos Santos, Manuel Duran Clemente, Tomé Pinto, and Jaime Neves.
With production by Olga Toscano and Maria João Cargaleiro, and narration by Jorge Moreira, the programme stands as a significant audiovisual record of a decisive moment in the consolidation of Portuguese democracy.
