June 25th 6:00 PM Santa Bárbara Center
A conversation on the memory of the former São Pedro Swimming Pool — a space of leisure, sociability and community life in Ponta Delgada, now known as Pesqueiro — and its role in shaping the collective and affective identity of the city.
Museu Carlos Machado revisits the history of this place, which has left its mark on successive generations, through a conversation with Urbano Resendes and Ana Amado, who grew up with this space. The session aims to recover experiences and narratives associated with it over time, while opening a reflection on collective memory, urban heritage and the processes of transformation of public spaces.
This session takes place in the context of the exhibition O Traço e o Tempo: geografias visuais de uma cidade (The Line and Time: visual geographies of a city), on display at the Núcleo de Santa Bárbara of Museu Carlos Machado. Bringing together works of painting, photography and sculpture, the exhibition proposes a visual journey through the city, revealing Ponta Delgada as a territory made of layers, memories and transformations. Os Banhos das Alcaçarias form one of the exhibition's core sections, making this conversation a natural extension of the dialogue the show already proposes with its audience.
The session takes place at Núcleo de Santa Bárbara on 25 June 2026 at 6:00 pm.
Admission is free and open to all.
This session is held as part of Ponta Delgada Portuguese Capital of Culture 2026.
