Next Sunday, April 27, at 9:00 PM, the Carlos Machado Museum hosts another edition of the Classics at the Museum cycle, which this time presents the premiere of the musical film "The Mystery of the Floating Archipelago" ("O Mistério do Arquipélago Flutuante"), created by Zeca Medeiros. The session will take place at the Sacred Art Center – Church of the Jesuit College.

This production by Palco de Ilusões, in partnership with Quadrivium - Artistic Association, features music, script, and direction by Zeca Medeiros himself. The film emerged from the author's dreamlike imagination and represents a project of resilience that began to take shape in 2019, before the pandemic scenarios and wars that mark our days. The work brings a strong message of peace and hope in times of uncertainty.

The original script was adapted over the years according to production conditions and other circumstances. After a challenging search for funding during the pandemic, when any initiative became uncertain, the production managed to begin filming in August 2022.

The cast features performances by David Medeiros in the leading role, along with Pilar Silvestre, Filipa Gomes, Luísa Alves, Filipa Pais, and Zeca Medeiros himself. The cinematography and editing were handled by Francisco Rosas, with sound by Tiago Rosas.

Quadrivium not only hosted the production during two extensive filming periods in their warehouse 8 but is now also promoting the premiere of the work, integrating it into the monthly Classics at the Museum initiative. The project received financial support from SPA, the Regional Directorate of Culture, and the Ponta Delgada City Council.

As Zeca Medeiros himself notes in the film's synopsis, in times of strange uncertainties, the optimistic tone of this work aims to be a message of hope for the country and for the world.
