Music at the Museum 2026

The Music in the Museum 2026 concert series begins its edition with the concert “Telemann Sonatas,” at the Santo André Center, on February 7th at 4:00 p.m. João Francisco Távora (recorder and artistic direction) and Helder Sousa (harpsichord) present their latest recording, “Telemann: Recorder Sonatas,” in a program focused on sonatas and fantasies by Georg Philipp Telemann. Released by Coviello Classics, the album “Telemann: Recorder Sonatas” brings together works in various formations and highlights the expressive richness of Telemann’s repertoire for recorder.

The concert is supported by the Portuguese Republic – Culture, Youth and Sports / Directorate-General for the Arts.

Biographies:
João Francisco Távora has developed a career devoted to historically informed performance, combining activity as a soloist, ensemble musician, and artistic director with ongoing research and promotion of 16th- to 18th-century repertoires. He is a founding member and co-artistic director of the Musurgia Ensemble, with which he has developed recording and programming projects dedicated to European early music and musical heritage.

Helder Sousa is a keyboardist, researcher, and harpsichord teacher at the Artistic School of the Calouste Gulbenkian Music Conservatory in Aveiro. He is also a founding member and co-artistic director of the Musurgia Ensemble.
