The “Guia Prático da Geodiversidade dos Açores / Field Guide of Azorean Geodiversity” will be presented at the Carlos Machado Museum – Santa Bárbara Center in Ponta Delgada on May 17th at 6:30 PM. Illustrated and bilingual (Portuguese and English), the “Guia Prático da Geodiversidade dos Açores” includes high-quality photographs of all the islands, with texts written by João Carlos Nunes, a volcanologist and professor at the University of the Azores.
As the third volume of the “Guias Práticos do Património Natural dos Açores” collection, this guide explores the unique geodiversity of the archipelago. It is an edition of the Instituto Açoriano de Cultura, with the support of the Secretaria Regional do Ambiente e das Alterações Climáticas and the 'Os Montanheiros' Association.
Filled with scientific information accessible to the general reader, the “Guia Prático da Geodiversidade dos Açores” describes the main forms and structures typical of volcanic regions, with special emphasis on the structures and elements found in the Azores, including the significant geolandscapes and geosites of the Azores.
